Attorney Brian W. Coffman joined Hausmann-McNally’s Rockford practice in 2007. He earned a bachelors degree in criminal justice and sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2001 and his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Michigan in 2005. He is a native of Mishawaka, Indiana.
While attending Thomas M. Cooley law school, he worked as a law clerk for the Lansing firm of Glassen, Rhead, Schumaker and Campbell.
After law school, Mr. Coffman was hired by the Chicago law firm of Querrey & Harrow, Ltd. to conduct a broad spectrum of commercial and insurance defense work. While there, he tried 13 jury trials and represented clients in over 100 arbitrations for the firm. The knowledge gained on the defense side positions him to pursue his goal of becoming one of Illinois’s premier plaintiff personal injury trial attorneys.
He now devotes his time to helping clients who have been injured in automobile, truck or motorcycle accidents to recover damages for their injuries.
While at UW-P, Coffman received honors in both golf and basketball. He was an all-conference selection in both sports and was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference “Student Athlete of the Year” in 2001. He served as the NCAA Division II national representative on the Sportsmanship & Ethical Conduct Committee from 1999 to 2002. He is currently the ninth leading scorer in UW-P basketball history. He also was president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee which extended services to the community through Habitat for Humanity and other service groups.
After graduation from Parkside, Mr. Coffman was hired as the UW-P head men’s golf coach and worked as an assistant golf professional at Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois. In his off time, Coffman continues to play competitively in local and state golf tournaments. In 2007, he won the Wilmette Amateur Golf Tournament and club championship at the Wilmette Golf Club in Wilmette, Illinois.
Mr. Coffman lives in Chicago and volunteers time with the KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) organization that helps children with mental and physical disabilities to get healthy exercise.
